New Year

Ok so it's a new year and I'm trying to motivate myself. I have been inspired by a favorite author of mine to post 1 picture a day for the entire year. This will keep me taking pictures with my new digital camera and that in turn will keep me thinking creatively. Now those who know me realize I don't have internet access at home. Therefor holiday's, weekends and vacation days will have to wait till I find a connection somewhere. In some cases it will be when I get back to work. So to start the new year here is my 1st picture, to be followed quickly by my second. :)

OK so it is getting close to that time of year again. 43 days till Dragon*Con. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!! Let the freaks and the geeks loose on downtown Atlanta!

This year my sister and nephew are again returning to join me in the fun and craziness of the Labor Day event. But we are definitely doing more planning. Last year we kind of winged it. This year we've already picked out costumes. So if you are at the Con this year look for us :)

Callaway Garden

So about 3 weekends ago a few of us from work decided to go to Callaway Gardens. The drive seemed like it would never end but it was well worth it! Even if I couldn't convince them to walk more rather then drive :) One of these pictures will become an oil painting... I just have to drag all the stuff out again. Although I may try a version in pastels.

These last two were taken by my cell phone, really low quality. I had to take them though... I had never seen orange Azalea's before. They were gorgeous and I want some now!

Next Trip should be the Renaissance Festival with Jesse.

OK so I know I should have expected it but it still PISSED me off.

I signed up for the free 2 week trial from Bally's to try out the gym. I was especially excited because they had a pool and an aquatic fitness class. It's the south who doesn't want a gym with a pool!

So 1st I get a call from the Bally's Guy Keith. "Hey just wanted to touch base with you and see when you planned on coming in. We need to activate your pass and give you a tour." OK no big deal. I call back set up an appointment for Saturday afternoon. I go. Keith seems nice enough. We talk about my goals blah blah blah. He shows me around the place, he even takes me through a mini-workout. I'm not a newbie, I know how to work all the equipment but OK this is fine. I ask some questions, when's the place the busiest~ etc. Appearing interested and not at all that I'm thinking I could get in a better work out if I didn't have to wait for him every time he walked away!

After the end of about 30 minutes we go to his office to finish up taking measurements: height/weight you know all the stuff so I can know where I'm starting from so I know what progress I'm making. I sit down waiting for him to sign my little printed out guest pass so I can use it for the next 2 weeks to get in and...

That's right it's straight into the push to buy a membership! I listen to his shpeal, I'm polite... Mom would be proud. I tell him flat out, " I am not interested in buying a membership at this point. I want to try some of the classes and get a real feel for the gym. At the end of the 2 weeks I will seriously consider a membership if I feel this place is for me." 3 times I go around with him, Give me my 2 free weeks and at the end I will probably buy. It's no good he won't listen.
I'm getting mad now and I interrupt his current lines about investing in your health and that they will give me 7 days free to decide if I like the place if I buy a membership now. And I tell him why would I do that if I have 2 weeks free? I ask him if he is going to sign my pass and when he doesn't answer I tell him "Thank you for your time but I am leaving now. If you hadn't been such a jackass about trying to press me into buying a membership today I would have bought one at the end of my 2 weeks."

And so I walk away pissed and disappointed because I was looking forward to working out again... well back to the search!

Welcome, Chase William!

I'm just so happy for my best friend Leslie and her family. She gave birth to Chase William on Saturday, the 15th. Interestingly enough this was her due date... She is always on time for things :D!

According to Leslie, Carys (the 1st born), is very excited about the new family member and wants to play with him.

I'm giving her a month before she wants to return him. I really hope Leslie and Billy explains the No Return/No Exchange policy on babies to Carys.

OK I know it's been forever since I've posted anything but I just had to do this. I was visiting a British Food site and saw this product and I had to share. Let me paint you a verbal picture:

OK so you stumble out of bed in the morning into the kitchen. OH THE HORROR you are out of coffee beans and you MUST have coffee (all the Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Caribou Coffee, ET.AL are closed do to a freak coffee accident, the coffee fairy came through and stole all the beans… work with me here!) So you open the cupboard and blindly search for the jar of instant coffee you know is in there somewhere, you know for emergencies just like this! You microwave the water, add the fake coffee, and take a big ole gulp of life giving caffeine~

Only to immediately realize your mistake… you didn't grab the Instant Coffee! Oh no you grabbed the granulated instant Pork Gravy!

OK so I needed to post this before February was over... Happy Birthday to Me! Yup, I turned the Big 30 on the 21st this month. I don't feel any different but maybe that's the shock. :o)

Anyway also thought I would take the opportunity to post a newer picture of Edwin the Naked Cat! Of course it's not too new, but it is newer then the kitten picture from earlier.

Ok Just when I'm ready to settle into my new apartment what should happen? More water leaking into the living room. This time in a new spot! And have my "landlords" done anything. They've taken out some sheetrock to see if the water was coming from one area, oh and put the wet dry vac in the living room so I can vacuum up the water as it seeps out from the doorway... I am so DONE with water leaking into my new living space!!!!!

Ok so this is just a quick one. Things are still crazy I'm in the process of painting the rooms downstairs so I can finally move back into my apartment. Friday night I will be sleeping in my bed again... I hope! I have to be back in my space by Saturday since Kathy's mom is coming down and will be sleeping upstairs where I am now.

But what this post is really about is my roommates have gotten their new baby boy! Edwin arrive at the house yesterday. He is a 3 month old Sphinx(hairless cat) and don't let the picture fool you he is actually cute, if you can ignore the rat tail thing he has going on.

FINALLY It's over! No more moving. We cleaned out the house and locked the doors at about 12am... just in time. And this weekend I have an ambitious plan to do absolutely NOTHING... except maybe to play Guitar Hero which I've become addicted to, Thanks Ellen, TJ, Tim, Steven, Kristina and Jason!

OK so far I've had the never ending moving experience and just when I thought progress was being made I had to go driving up to Tennessee because my dad was in the hospital. Well he passed away on Tuesday the 14th at 7:35pm. So I'm up here dealing with the situation with the family and I get a call from my roommates to let me know that our new place flooded downstairs where my rooms are. Oh and that they will probably have to go to Chicago soon for Kathy's grandmother's funeral since she is doing so bad as well. Got the call on Saturday the 18th that she did pass away. And I still have to figure out how I will make the trip to Connecticut for my dad's memorial service on the 27th, finish moving the stuff out of the rental with no real help from Kathy and Jesse since they will be in Chicago from 11/20 to 11/24 and where will I put it with the downstairs flooding... Did I mention November has really sucked!!!!!!

Moving sucks! But at least this time it's only 10 miles rather then 900 miles. Miss my moving buddies though. Thank God for Jesse's friend Lori! We have made progress though. Most of the big furniture has been removed from the house and loaded on the truck. We finished that at 2 last night. More moving will commence tonight and Kathy and I will be getting stuff done today and tomorrow. I'm tired of packing but at least we have through the 30th to get out. Although we finally heard from the landlord and she will start showing the place starting this coming up weekend.
ugh back to work.

OK Here is a quick post of me dressed up for Dragon*Con. Also sorry about the blur on them. And Yes that is the shirt I was up till 5 in the morning making including sizing and looping the chain on the arms.

These were all in the Marta station on the way home so we were pretty exhausted. More pictures to follow.

Sooooo Tired

OK this is just a quick one. After staying up till 5 this morning to finish my costume I have had a blast so far at Dragon*Con. Just got home in fact. And from one table in the Marriott I won a $75 gift card just for rolling a pair of 8 sided dice! And that wasn't the big prize.

So now it's off to bed so I can be there by ten tomorrow to see Sherri speak!

ok so now I only have to make it through another 8 hours and I will be FREE!!! I'm going straight home and finish up my costume which I was up till 3:30 working on last night. Go me operating on 3 hours of sleep and the excitement of Dragon*Con... Heck I'm even working on stuff for my Costume right now here at work. Must have pants worthy of the shirt I've made. Here's hoping it stays slow so I can get stuff accomplished. Can't let stupid customers and my job interfear with Dragon*Con! Ok well if that was 100% true I would have called in sick but I need to get paid for my holiday. Damn "The MAN"!!!!!!!! Coffee I need more COFFEE!!!!

I am so going to crash at some point tonight. Probably when I settle down to watch the Buffy Horror Picture Show at 11:30pm. Good thing I'll have my roommates with me to nudge me if I start drooling or snoring :) I'm going to have to remember to pick up a Red Bull or a Monster.

Kathy's Mom should arrive late tonight... I have to wonder if she is ready for what she will experience. I somehow doubt it.

I promise pictures will follow as soon as they are taken... and I figure out how to post them :)

OK I cannot tell you how excited I am that it’s that fun time of year again... A time to revel in my geekdom! Embrace my freakiness!! Wings, Horns, Stilts, Storm Troopers, Angels, Demons, Robots~ you name it and you will find it at this fabulous gathering. Cartoon characters, movie stars, artists of all ages. It is the ultimate example of everyone fitting in. I get to be me only better, a veritable SUPER-ME, for 4 whole days as the Science Fiction/ Fantasy crowd invade downtown Atlanta.

I will be the kid in a candy store rushing from booth to booth and panel to panel. I will get autographs and books signed and lots and lots of pictures!!! It will take a week just to recover!

One of my roommates actually got accepted in the juried art show. Go Kathy!!! That will be me next year!
The only thing missing for me is a couple of people… Travis, wish you could go. Ellen I will miss you there too. But next year you and the drool monster have to come! And we have to stay at one of the hotels! AND NEVER SLEEP!!!!!!!!! And Leslie you know I miss you everyday not just on Dragon*Con Weekend! Some day you need to come down for the Con and bring Carys with you so we can dress her up as a cute little fairy!
